Home-Start Bracknell Forest is an independent charity with Trustees being responsible for directing the management and administration of the charity. Trustees have a wide range of roles but are primarily responsible for making the charity effective, providing overall direction and maintaining sound management of funds. The skills they provide can include:

  • Fundraising

  • General business management

  • Financial and legal expertise

  • IT knowledge

  • Human resources experience

  • PR & media skills

  • Knowledge of family support issues in the community

Trustees meet several times a year, usually in the evenings,  and additional time will be required to fulfil certain tasks or roles to support the charity in delivering its vision.

Home-Start Bracknell Forest Trustees have a variety of skills and experience and are from a wide range of backgrounds. Being a Trustee can be hard work but it is also very rewarding, giving many chances for personal development and the chance to give something back to your local community. Trustees can access training and support from Home-Start UK via the @Home portal where there is a trustee gateway leading to a dedicated section for trustees.

Trustees, who are all volunteers themselves, provide a valuable role in enabling Home-Start to give families the support they need.
