We were delighted to welcome around 50 volunteers, friends and invited guests to our 25th AGM on Monday 9th July.

Over the past 25 years the scheme has supported more than 1,000 local families through difficult times and provided valuable skills and experience for over 200 volunteers. The Scheme’s longevity has been ensured by the ability of the charity to adapt to the many changes that have taken place over that time, both for families and the wider world. This day was a celebration of that and a look forward to the challenges that the next 25 years will inevitably bring

During the meeting we heard about the fantastic contributions made by our sponsored fundraisers, the growing awareness of our work by corporate donors and the work done by our trusts and grants fundraiser. Most importantly, however, was the contribution to our work made by all our volunteers – trustees, home-visiting, office, group, IT, photography and events – for the benefit of the families we support.

Our speaker this year was Kay Bews, a former Home-Start UK employee who was instrumental in setting up the Bracknell Scheme 25 years ago.  Bracknell Forest Mayor, Cllr Alvin Finch presented certificates to some of our volunteers, supporters and trustees present, with special mention to Isabel Mattick who was on the Management Committee 25 years ago and also Christine Rees who was a volunteer 20 years ago.

Finally we unveiled a fantastic cake created by Zofia Modelska, a Mum we supported in the past, and this was enjoyed by everyone there.
