Coronavirus and wellbeing for parents and children
Many of us will be aware of, and keeping up to date with, the developing situation around Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Making use of reliable information and creating opportunities for opening up conversations can help us to reduce fears and to address concerns.
You might be worried about being unwell, or about elderly or vulnerable family members and friends, or how it may impact on your life, if for example children are not in school or you are asked to stay at home or not see other people. There may be many things that are causing worries, or increasing stress.Â
For children too they are likely to be picking up lots of information, from schools, from the media and from their peers, and are likely to have questions and concerns of their own that are not always easy for parents to know how to respond to.
There are lots of things that we can do to support our wellbeing over the coming days and weeks. There is some helpful, clear and accurate information available to help us all to better understand the situation and how we can respond to keep ourselves and others safe, and to also take care of our wellbeing in this unfamiliar situation. I have shared some that I hope you will find useful here.
