Meet Eva
Eva is our amazing Home-Start Bracknell Forest Community Hero!
She’s running 12 half marathons in 12 months to raise crucial funds to help Home-Start Bracknell Forest support local vulnerable families with young children.
Eva’s story
“Growing up, I was fortunate to have a strong support system from my dear Gran, especially while my mum was going through a difficult time. The love and devotion she gave me created an unbreakable bond. Her constant reminders about the importance of resilience in life left a powerful imprint.
As I navigated through various challenges on my journey, I came to understand the impact of having a helping hand in life. It’s during these hard times that support and advocacy can truly make a difference. Building on the foundation laid by Gran, I faced life’s hurdles and created a loving family of my own. Gran’s influence is the cornerstone of my strength, reminding me that it’s okay to seek support and that, sometimes, a helping hand can make all the difference in the world.
My journey into running kicked off when my physiotherapist suggested it as a way to alleviate persistent lower back pain. Despite the chilly start on January 1st, 2020, I decided to give it a shot – I was soon hooked. Running became more than just a remedy for my back pain; it evolved into a powerful source of freedom, strength and resilience. The joy and exhilaration I found in every stride allowed me to tap into the best version of myself. It’s amazing how something as simple as putting one foot in front of the other became my pathway to physical and mental well-being.
Eva’s mission
In 2024, my mission is to conquer 12 half marathons in 12 months, all in support of the incredible volunteer efforts at Home-Start Bracknell Forest.
Home-Start extend a helping hand to ordinary, local parents who are facing extraordinary circumstances, building resilience, improving mental health and life chances. Gran’s wisdom showed me how a supportive gesture, helping hand or listening ear can truly make a positive difference in someone’s life.
When parents find themselves in their most challenging moments, needing someone to support them, Home-Start is there – because they understand that childhood can’t wait.
I wholeheartedly believe in the impactful work Home-Start does, providing invaluable support to local families in need. That’s why I’ve set a fundraising goal of £1,000, aiming to contribute to ensuring that more families can benefit from the crucial support, friendship and assistance that Home-Start offers”.
